I wonder. With the chatbox and dice rolling enabled, would it be possible to play the game via forum?

It's best thought of as a miniature game (figures on open table with terrain) or a board game (figures on maps with hex grids). Having never tried to do either online, could the forum handle those?

Need some way to put up a map of some kind. Maybe each turn the players update it with their movement.

There is mapping software available for Battletech from a couple of 3rd-party providers that includes numbered hexes and terrain notations. Just need a way to add mecha "counters" that show unit location and facing. A mech may attack with each weapon once per turn, but it can time the individual attacks at any point while it's activating - before, anytime during, and after movement. Then there's the optional action cards, tactical support cards, and pilot skill cards. I would think a play-by-email/post solution would be problematic, but not unworkable. Any suggestions?
