Game Idea Thread.
This is the thread where Ideas for RPs/SDs/Etc, go to. If you have an idea, let everyone know what you have in mind. We'll Critique it, expand, or say it simply isn't very good. In any case, the magic of making happens here.
If an idea is very good, so good that people want to use it for more then just one setting, or idea, It will be archived here as well.

Re: Game Idea Thread.
Anyways.
Just to kinda get the ball rolling, I've had a feew "recent" ideas that I've bounced around in my head but never got around to discussing on SB because I've been too busy as of late.
===
Gundam RPs
I've been thinking of running a few of these for the last year but the climate wasn't right for it (nor my own for that matter), but the ideas are basically as follows.
---
Gundam Wing: Strings of Fate
The basic Premise is that the players can either play an Original Character (OC) or be themselves (SI) in the Gundam Wing universe.
Each player would get thier own Gundam or a unique Mobile Suit (ie: Tallgeese or something the like).
With these machines you take part in the Gundam Wing Timeline and do things you feel are neccesary.
It is mostly an RP, but one with alot of mech action. There would also be a point system involved. One that is involved with the development of your Mobile Suit so as to make it unique, yet limited as the Gundams were.
If wanted, the players would be under a point system where they could get XP. For OC players, this would be close to actual role playing. For SI players, the XP would go into a detailed, ingame explaination about how they can purchase skills and feats and etc for themselves. This would encourage them to keep doing stuff and gain more.
The game would follow the normal GW timeline for the most part, but it will allow for major changes.
I could take up to 10 players...but it's up in the air on how many I could really take were I running multiple games. So more likely 5.
---
Mobile Suit Gundam the RP
I've been thinking about doing this one on SB more then the GW one.
The basic Premise is that the players are either OCs or SIs.
If they play OCs then they are either Zeon or Federation.
If they are SIs, they are free agents.
All players get mobile suits and depending on the ratio of OCs to SIs and which side has more players, this can either take place very early in the war or near the end when things heat up.
All Players get Mobile Suits appropriate for thier side.
SIs however can have whatever mobile suit they want so long as it's considered a "Plentiful" machine for the period. Of course if they want they can have a unique Mobile Suit, but the duty of upkeep and so on is entirely up to them as opposed to a player with a Zaku just stealing another Zaku.
Point systems and so on would be used here as well.
---
Robotech RPs.
I have a few of these as well.
---
I don't have a name for this one yet, but if I had to describe it, I would call it "Kelly's Heroes: Zentraedi Edition".
This game is entirely SI based, but I use my old system. Basically the players are themselves, but inserted into characters that really existed (as far as my game is concerned). You know thier history, skills, knowledge, and experience.
This game runs on crack. Basically, Zentraedi misfits commiting piracy for fun and profit.
I encourage stealing of ships, making fun of higher ranked officers, blowing up factories, stealing Meltraedi women, and acting completely Contrary to what a Zentraedi is suppoed to be.
being robotech, there's alot of mech/ship action and a bit of seriousness here and there. Plus there's the robotech verse to consider. Which I really like.
I had planned around 10 or so players, but I can adjust.
The game system I would use for this game is the Palladium system since they currently have the lisencing for it and it's a systme I'm pretty damned good at using and have a really damned good understanding of.
---
Another idea was to run a more pure military game in robotech. It can take place in any era, but the one I had in mind was Southern Cross since that has a great amount of potential, especially with the revised version recently made by Palladium.
---
Ninja's and Superspies
basically..take all of the Martial Art action movies/video games/cartoons and Spy thriller movies/video games/cartoons you had ever seen, awesome or cheap thrills, and put it into one setting. That's N&SS
I would run a game with players, again, SI or OC, using the palladium system, and insert you intot he world of martial arts and spy plots.
---
There's a bunch more..but I'm tired at the moment so I'll think about more ideas I've had later.

I'd suggest using something more fast play based. Palladium's barely usable on a tabletop on a good day.

Re: Game Idea Thread.
Normally, yes, but being that it's an RP (which online is hardly ever fast except on a good day) and that we have a dice rolling system. It would actually work pretty well here. this is however..just my opinion.

I tend to favor RPs that allow significant research of spells, tech, special techniques or something along those lines, since I get a kick out of inventing crazy ability trees. So the Ninjas and Superspies idea sounds interesting, or maybe the Zentraedi thing.

Welp, what do you have available? In regards to what kind of settings/games you'd be willing or interested in running?

What would you do/be open towards/etc. And... know of?
Because I think the majority I would pitch aren't that... known.

Well, I'm hoping to get the Banana Republic in Space thread going eventually. Might actually make a game forum for that so people can do more with it... it's a collective empire building game.
Then there's Davion is You.
And finally, I want to eventually run a playtest for Darkness Between the Stars.

What's that? An Eldritch Horror based one?

Re: Game Idea Thread.
I'd love to give Darkness Between The Stars another shot. It ended a bit abruptly last time but I remember having fun with it.
Granted, yes, I'd probably prefer to pick Koral of House Lorin up as my character again, but I wouldn't be against starting fresh. Though this time with some chargen options rather than just rolling for it, maybe?

I'd be interested in Darkness Between the Stars. I've been looking for a decent sci fi game to play besides the Starwars one I'm in on RPOL.com.

Re: Game Idea Thread.
Alright, I had a few ideas for quests, and would like to get some opinions on them.
The first idea is that you run a shop in a fairly typical fantasy-world. Determine what kind of shop you run, deal with various customers, make them into regulars and friends, compete with rivals, possibly form your own guild, and generally do what you want (within the boundaries of the parameters; no running off adventuring, for example).
The second idea is that you run a certain kind of shop. Namely, A Little Shop That Wasn't There Yesterday, moving through dimensions/settings and making strange deals with various native characters. For example; selling Orochimaru immortality in return for all of his memories.
A magical cookbook for Sanji in return for the heads of 7 powerfull but harmless beasts. Stuff like that.
A particular twist I'm thinking about is how to handle voting. Specifically, in regards to dealing with your customers, I'm inclined to switch things around; instead of voting for choices I present, the players would compile a series of options they offer the character/customer, and I pick the one I consider the most interesting or appropriate, based on the character's personality.
Thoughts?

Re: Game Idea Thread.
How does this sound for you guys...
An empire builder game where you play PULP NAZIS
In the final days of WW2, a secret cabal of Nazis, without the knowledge or approval of the fuhrer, sent a small group their best and brightest to a secret base in Antarctica. Of course that base itself was only a temporary installation to be used as a launching point for Operation: HoddmÃmis Holt... the last ditch survival plan for the Reich.
The colonization of the moon using the most promising and powerful of the Reich's wunderwaffe, Die Glocke... the Anti-Gravity Drive.
Using this technology they constructed a number of flying saucers and prepared to relocate somewhere that they could rebuild and recover their strength outside the grasp of their enemies... a place that they'd never be able to reach...
THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON!
Each of you will play one of the leaders of this secret Cabal. In addition, you will be able to suggest pulpy ideas for what technology you start with and what is possible. Though to make things more interesting you have to draw from fictional sources for ideas... for example...
This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_1942:_Secret_Weapons_of_WWII
Or this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Storm
Or even this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfenstein_%28series%29
But be warned that nothing exists in a vacuum, so if you want this guy...
That means this guy's also around...
Each of you would play a member of the ruling council. Pet projects and backstabbing are encouraged.
If it picks up I might give it its own subfourm to allow you to make your own threads for your activities, projects, and petty politicking.
What do you think?

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann RPG: Heaven's Closing in
Each player starts with at Level 0. You get a Gunman and enough energy power to use it. Only through battle, inspiring the human/beastman masses, and awesomeness do you gain levels.
Do you possess the power to pierce the heavens, and make the angels sing?
